Always start now looking for a job

If you aren’t qualified yet, it’s important to know that you’ve already acquired skills that can get you a job right now – even if it’s not a big corporate
Always start now looking for a job
TG2Kers! Do you know that the official unemployment rate was 34,9% in the third quarter of 2021? As we break this number down, at least 9.1 million young people aged between 15-34 are unemployed. In this statistic, we have graduates who have obtained a qualification at a higher education institute but find themselves unfortunately unemployed. What do we do?

As obvious as this may be, start now! Many of our brothers and sisters find themselves unemployed because they do not have the necessary experience required in the field of what they studied.

Don’t wait to finish studying before you put your diploma, degree, or certificate to work. For instance, if you are an accounting student and are looking to gain experience, start with the books of a local mechanic shop or bakery. Learn, grow and make mistakes in that ‘small’ position because it will ultimately prepare you for that big accounting firm you will one day work for.

All that you are taught in class is not in vain and you shouldn’t have to wait till the end of your course to be applied. Start in the capacity you are in and grow from there, it will also allow you to network and meet other people who will help you move to the next phase of your path.

Doing this will also ensure you learn skills like punctuality, professionalism, and collaboration for the work sector.

I hope this has inspired you to look beyond completing your coursework and has encouraged you to start now with the knowledge you have acquired.
