Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) play a very important role in society by picking up the government’s deficits in services and providing social protection for citizens via the philanthropy of donors and the socially aware; they are non-profit organizations that operate independently of any government, typically one whose purpose is to address a social or political issue.

The PaulDave (derived from the founder’s late parents’ names, Paulina and David) Foundation Institute is one of the NGOs uplifting the community. It is based in Modimolle (Limpopo) and has been operating for three years now.

They recently had a project collecting stationary for matric students in Phagameng, where both Phagameng High and Solomon Mahlangu Secondary received their stationary in the first week of October. The stationary consisted of a pen, sharpener, ruler and a pencil.

PualDave has had several other events and projects. They had a mental health seminar for women to educate them about depression and ways of dealing with it, but also to encourage love and unity among women. “We have been a stakeholder with an organisation which collected uniform for scholars, which some was part of the foundation”, NGO was founder Karabo Mokgotsi says.

Mokgotsi (25) is a radio personality, businesswoman, life coach and a driven motivational speaker. She represented South Africa in Ethiopia, two years ago at a pan-African programme hosted by the African Union. It focused on social related issues within the African continent and the importance of teaching the youth about what it means to be a pan-Africanist.

Mokgotsi’s inspiration comes from the kindness of the people around her since the loss of both her parents at the age of 10. “Since then, I have never really had it easy but have always been blessed with people who believe and support me,” she says.
